What Customers Say About PSI Woodworking LR220-3 220V Long Ranger Dust Collector Switch:

I have had this for about 10+ years with no problem at all. I called the manufacturer and they sold me a replacement remote even though they stopped making them in 1997. Now after 10 years the switch stopped working. The button itself gave out. Mine is a Long Ranger II.I would highly recommend this product. 10+ years and the only thing that broke is an easily replaceable remote.

It would be a nice improvement to have an indicator light somewhere on the unit to show when it's on/off. I wish had gotten one sooner. The Long Ranger Dust Col Switch works extremely well, was a breeze to install and I find I'm using my dust collection equipment more since I don't have to go back and fourth to turn it on at the central point where I have it connected. Sometimes after I have started the piece of equipment I'm using I'm not sure if I turned the dust collector on with the Long Ranger as the sound of the equipment is louder than the dust collector. An indicator light would be a handy reminder.

Since I now had the old unit and a new unit I programmed the old remote on the new unit and it worked well. I have purchased 2 of these units over the past half dozen years. Both lasted for a few years and failed for no apparant cause. I purchased a second unit and it worked very well right out of the box. I have a whole house surge protector and have had no failures on any other electronic equipment so I don't believe that the input power is dirty and causing the failures. These units receive very infrequent use and are not overloaded in any way.

I then tried to program both remotes on the old power unit and neither worked. When they work they are very convenient as you can carry the small remote in the pocket of your apron and it works from anywhere in the shop. This showed that both remotes work. They were both used on a Delta dust collector. I discussed the failure of the first one with PSI and was told since it lasted a few years it would be out of warranty and the unit was not repairable and no service information is available. This showed the problem was in the power switch of the first unit.

My experience is that this product is simply unreliable and I can not recommend it.

But you can also Velcro it to the back of the table saw fence so it will (usually) be where you can find it. It saves time going back and forth to the dust collector and I don't get lazy about making one or two cuts without turning it on.

Turn the tool on and the vacuum goes on. Very helpful for a sander or (in my case) a miter saw that would otherwise create a cloud of dust.

First I got a shop vacuum cleaner with an auxilliary outlet that I can plug a power tool into. The Long Ranger III works.

Then I said, "Hey, dummy, why are you always walking around the table saw to the dust collector, flipping the On switch, and walking back, and then going back to the end of the workshop to turn it off. Buy one of those remote switch gizmos." So I bought this one after looking at reviews on amazon and elsewhere.

The remote comes with a little belt clip, so I clip it to a duct that pulls dust from above my table saw.

I have been using this remote for about 1 month now on a 2 hp/220v Grizzly DC. I am sure I am saving some money because I dont' leave the DC running for long periods of time like I did before I got this. It is great to be able to turn it on and off from anywhere in the shop. It is a big time saver and very convienient. The remote has a belt clip on it so I attach it to my tool belt and its always there when I need it. I ordered it on Amazon and it came within 2 days with standard shipping and it works exactly as you would expect.
